No, that means, he needed a marketing stunt. That does not mean he changed a single one if his opinions.
In one year, his pay will be back, and he will give himself a one time bonus to cover the loss.
Fair enough, but do remember this is a Japenese dude. The salary thing is a "dishonoraburu dispray" that they do when they fuck up, just a cultural difference.
Kinda like how drunk driving would straight up end your politician career over there since it's seen as particularly evil.

@LukeAlmighty @coolboymew Correct you are. I was just trying to bring some more context: the public sees the salary cut as a shameful signal of really fucking up. Unfortunately, execs have no soul and no shame so you’re 💯% right about the lack of effectiveness in the long term.
Where I am, he would still be on probation where they can kick you back to your old position for any reason
