cdc is now telling pregnant women to get the mrna injection lmao
for those unfamiliar with medical safety standards: drug use during pregnancy is a BIG DEAL. every drug in the US pharmacopeiais assigned a pregnancy safety rating by the FDA (most certainly NOT the CDC). the vast majority of drugs iirc are in "category C": "Risk Not Ruled Out". doctors are not supposed to prescribe cat C drugs to pregnant women unless it's for something urgent and there's no Cat A or even Cat B alternative. a Cat B or Cat A rating is something above and beyond normal drug approval and there are tons of common, important drugs that never go above Cat C in decades of safe use and study, because whether a drug is safe in pregnancy is a completely different question from whether it's safe for men and non-pregnant women. ibuprofen (advil), one of the most common NSAIDs, is Cat D. there are even concerns about acetaminophen (tylenol) overuse in pregnancy even tho it's Cat A. we have learned the hard way, YOU DO NOT TAKE RISKS WITH A DEVELOPING FETUS.

the fact that they have de facto "field promoted" the pfizer injections to Cat A, not just without strongly established evidence of safety, but in fact despite serious concerns about effects on the reproductive system and underinvestigated reports of miscarriages, proves unequivocally how medically and ethically bankrupt this entire process is. these people don't give a damn about your health and they have an agenda. whether that's just making gazillions of dollars for pfizer & co. or something even more obscene, i have no goddamn idea, but this is not how mature and responsible medical systems behave

One word:
Thalidomide

I googled it once, and I don't think I will trust big pharma ever again. It took 50 years for them to acknowledge the mistake FFS.

@LukeAlmighty @velartrill
>Thalidomide was a widely used drug in the late 1950s and early 1960s for the treatment of nausea in pregnant women. It became apparent in the 1960s that thalidomide treatment resulted in severe birth defects in thousands of children.

holy fuck do NOT look at the google image tab
@Remi @LukeAlmighty @velartrill the scary part is that the trials at the time did show it was pretty safe. There is like a 20 day window in the first trimester where it is harmful to the fetus, and it won't effect them outside of that.
The European medical authorities did not test in this window and approved it, leading to the disaster. The Americans had a longer and more thorough process so were still studying when the birth defects started- this actually got the Europeans to start adopting more American style medical testing regulations and using FDA studies in their regulatory processes.
@LukeAlmighty big pharma is pure evil. they make some useful shit but telling it apart from the poison is mostly about luck and guesswork. paxil is another awful example, tho i don't think that one involved pregnancy complications
