I'm starting to think all these new COVID variants are just the result if doctors and "medical researchers" running out of topics to research, or ones that'll be accepted by medical journals, so they find one single change in a COVID sample (that could be easily chocked up to human error) and then say that it's the result of some new variant.

"Found a spec of dirt in this new viral load, must be the Shrigma variant"
@Shadowman311 Imagine trying to give a name for every variant of the flu. Several come out every year. That's what they're doing here, except they're doing it with more fanfare than they do for flu variants.

With flu variants, they typically give them alphanumeric combinations rather than names because there are so fucking many of them. Medical researchers do study flu variants for various reasons, like to try to create flu shots each year that work well enough. They speculate about what the flu will look like this year and make a bunch of variant vaccines hoping their guesses are correct. Another reason to study flu variants is to try to observe their migration patterns. Guess where they all start? Southeast Asia.

What's worth noting is there isn't as much drama about this as there is for COVID. In the case of the latter, there's a lot of fear mongering going on. Flu shots are considered optional, and the only argument to get them is so that you don't miss a few days of work. People don't act like you're killing Grandma by skipping the flu shot, which hilariously makes me more inclined to get it.

Honestly, if Pfizer and all these other companies didn't create this massive fear campaign and try to pressure me into taking it I might have just gotten it: "hey, we've got this experimental new mRNA vaccine technique for coronachan. Getting the flu sucks! Skip that noise for just $20 at Walgreens. We'll come out with another one in a year when it inevitably mutates"

That honestly sounds like a fair enough deal, sign me up. Instead of being calm and sane about it they lit their own hair on fire. Like I said, were in not for that I think "anti-vaxers" would still look crazy and not, like, the adults in the room
@NEETzsche I think a lot of this hysteria is the result of big pharma boomers hearing at a conference that "younger people respond better to emotional appeals" and just taking that concept to the absolute extreme.
@Shadowman311 There are a number of conspiracy theories about these vaccines. Maybe it's like Tuskegee but for White people this time. Maybe it's designed to weaken the immune system gradually and adding booster shots furthers that goal. Maybe it's just recklessly designed and manufactured and it'll make me grow a third arm.

Bearing in mind how hostile the powers that be are to guys like you and I are, and bearing in mind just how incompetent they tend to be, the likelihood that they either fucked up or are actively malicious is high enough that I'm not inclined to get it. Not to mention, that in some way getting pretty much everybody on this vaccine is part of some greater power play that I 100% want to undermine, so fuck em.
@NEETzsche My guess is that this vaccine was hastily and recklessly made and now they realize that unless they vaccinate everyone (if everyone is experiencing ADE they can just chalk it up to a new variant) then the establishment will be very rapidly blamed and there will be hell to pay, this vax push is a desperate attempt at self-preservation to cover for their own fuck up.

Yeah... a person doesn't have to be a scientist to understand that one badly researched jab is a bad idea. But the booster shots... That is a DEADLY idea, since repeated treatments do increase a chance that something eventually goes wrong to 1.

In the same way as drinking for example. 1 night is statistically ok, 1 night every week means you're dead within 3 years.
