It is truly amazing to hear any meeting with more then 2 people on the same authority level.
Out of a sudden, the ability to utilize high level simulations completelly disappears, and people have to start deciding based on slogan-level logic. It's not that each of them is too stupid to make the right decision on their own, but they cannot communicate the complete simulation, so they have to stop after first 2 steps.
Refusing a clear hierarchycal systems was a mistake that most of western economy will never recover from.
@LukeAlmighty in our company we had SCRUM.. it means that there is no boss, but the team decides... the result? one liked java, another python, another this technology and another that.. but nobody wanted to damage relationships, so in the end all technologies were implemented.. it was a terrible system where deployment took twenty minutes (and sometimes it didn't even succeed :-)).. however, on key issues, there was still a boss - an unofficial one - a colleague who had natural authority.. people listened to his opinions.. so even if you want to destroy any hierarchy, it appears unofficially, this is what I have learned.. and without hierarchy, indeed, things are getting worse... but on the other hand, if you prefer the hierarchy then you need to find really clever people, otherwise their impact could be even worse.. that's the reason for the SCRUM, I think..
IDK. I will listen to my boss fervently until he stops paying me. In that way the hierarchy is preserved.
But probably you mean something else that I'm not understanding. Worry not, that is natural.
