That is how technology works.
The only way to get to the nech checkpoint is to embrace the current one.
You cannot get to fusion on wind, you need to go full atoom. Same goes for oil.
You can't get to earth paradise by destroying the soil with machines, pesticides and herbicides.
You need to grow food forests.
That requires each person to be allocated enough land to grow their own food..

I hate to say this, but the earth paradise you immmagine exists only in Disney propaganda.
Fammins did exist throughout history, and we found one way to multiply the food production after another. No, we aren't perfect, and yes, we are cutting too many corners, but we must not choose to just go back, because that will lead to both technological stagnation and crisis of kind we haven't ever seen.
We barely have enough energy. if we get rid of nuclear powerplants, we will cause crisis. We have enough food, but the nutricion is off scale. I get it. But we need to find a non-chemical treatments. Cutting all treatments is not a solution.
And most importantly, individualism is not a solution. It takes 5 hours for one person to build a table. It also takes 2 hours to 2 people or 1 hour for 3. Mass production and cooperation is the thing that pushed humanity over the edge. No need to go back to the dark.
Civilizitations have collapsed regularly on Earth. Only the food forest ones tave stood the test of time. Such as Tikopia.
I'm not talking about individualism, i'm talking about communities of 50-60 ideally. But yes each person would have enough land for their own food fuel and lumber. But can get neighbours together for harvest planting etc.
