No matter where you place the jump in taxes, that place becomes a barier, that makes earning below and above it the same, when it comes to the living standart.

So, it starts killing off the middle class, because it doesn't matter if they earn 30 percent more with tax, or 30 percent less without it.

Same goes for handouts, child support etc... If more work means loosing the benefit, then you will find a way to stay below the line.
