With the final season ongoing, I figure it's a perfect time to make a thread about Attack on Titan, and why it's the closest thing we'll get to a fascist/national socialist TV show this side of total victory. The first part will be for people who just watch the show, then I'll get into the manga.

The story takes place in a fictional world very similar to our own, but a decade or so down the line. Eldians (Aryans) were once the masters of the world, giving the people of the Earth many marvels, and using our labor for their betterment. Because of this, Eldians amassed a great empire and fabulous wealth.

The Eldian nation is pretty clearly Germanic in nature, based on names of characters (Reiner Braun, Eren Yeager, Krista Lentz), appearance, architecture, clothing, etc. But also includes other White nationalities (Annie Leonhart, Erwin Smith, Armin Arlert, Marco Bodt, Jean Kirstein).

This is pretty widely accepted.

Unfortunately for the Eldian Empire, their racial enemy, Marley, had concocted a plan to subvert them. You see, 2000 years ago the Eldians got this great power that made the Marlians jealous of them, and Eldia quickly conquered Marley. Gee, I wonder if there is some similarity to the real world.

So Marley decides to subvert Eldia. They do this by making certain Eldian elites feel guilty about conquering all these other nations of the world, even though the other nations did nothing but benefit from that conquest. The 8 Eldian noble houses had been squabbling amongst themselves anyway, so it was pretty easy to set them against each other.

By hook or by crook, Marley got enough of the Eldian nobles, who possessed the power of the titans, on their side, and were able to overcome the other noble houses. This all happened 80 years before the main events of the story. Gee, what war happened 80 years ago?

So once Marley gained power they instituted a mass propaganda campaign against the Eldian race, persecuting them wherever they could be found. Of course, the Eldian nobility were excluded, and continued to preach the anti-Eldian message, so that even the common folk believed it. It's even described as "stealing cultures", and "forcing them to have children". Might start to sound a little familiar to some of you.

So with that background, the Eldian king decided to break away and create a sort of ethno-state for a handful of his people. This might sound pretty great, but it was in reality a cage, cut off from the outside world, with a strict KGB style military police. The society was broken into three classes, each set against the others based on which wall they were in. Exploitation, prostitution, human trafficking, murder, and all kinds of evil were rampant. The king did nothing to prevent it. In fact, he wiped the memories of his subjects so they would forget that there even were people outside the walls. To forget they had an entire world out to kill them.

The world, headed by Marley, did everything it could to persecute the Eldians. Whenever an Eldian crossed their path, they would be injected and turned into a monster, to be unleashed against the Eldians within the walls, and keep them penned up. At the end of the day, the only thing that could stop Eldians, is other Eldians.

Eldians were put on the front lines during Marley's Middle Eastern conquests.

But Eldians in the Marley Empire still had hope! They could serve and die for Marley, yay. You see, they are the *virtuous Eldians*, not like those evil Eldian supremacists. By giving their entire lives to their racial enemy, they could atone. How nice.

Of course, there were Eldians who rejected that narrative. You see, Lago had giant wooden doors, and titans never could have broken them down.

"But Eldians believed in eugenics! That's why your kid sister deserved to get eaten alive"

Of course, there were some people that were all like "The Fall of Lago happened, and it was GOOD"

They carved crosses into their chests (unfinished swastikas?)

One interesting thing to note, when Marley went to war with other nations, they would use titanized Eldians to terrorize the enemy. Once the enemy was defeated, they would employ the former enemy troops to spread the word about how terrible the Eldian titans are, so Eldians would gain yet another enemy abroad.

No amount of cucking could prevent the final: "let's just kill them"

So that's basically the setting of the story, so let's get into the content. I'll start with something most people aren't as familiar with: the parody manga. 😆

Throughout the parody series the main character, Eren, is often associated with fascism. Here he is quoting Machiavelli and Mussolini.

I have no idea who this could be referring to.

And of course, is accused of racism, but also proven to be right lmao.
