@LukeAlmighty it's one of the greatest & most lucrative forms of usury in the modern age, making (most) youth debt slaves to the system until the end of their lives. Just American things...

I do get some good old usery, but this scheme is so crazy, it's truly hart to immagine a situation, where a person would take such a loan.

@Eris @LukeAlmighty @RehnSturm256 and people wonder why I push trade school and apprenticeships, or if you're going for tech stuff just getting certificates on your own. I know people who work for Google and Microsoft who don't have more than a high school diploma but they did their homework and got their certifications. They also have a good GitHub portfolio.
@LukeAlmighty they get you when you're most vulnerable: when you're young, and design a system where you "need" the degree for even many basic jobs. Barely 17/18 yo and bright eyed youth without any direction in the world are enslaved to thousands in debt. You don't even want to dig into this lore. It gets worse the more you realize. Like, how people are becoming such slaves for life with tangibly useless degree studies, but the paper they get from graduating is all that matters in getting a desk jockey job or teaching job which continues the cycle.

@LukeAlmighty my father for instance still pays back his loan, God knows how long ago he actually graduated
@LukeAlmighty Yep. And after they graduate, most students can't find a good enough job to repay the loan in a reasonable amount of time. And if I remember correctly, you cannot declare bankruptcy when it comes to student loans.

@LukeAlmighty There are also loan centers in major hospitals for big medical procedures.
@LukeAlmighty yeah, and it's even better because they're government backed and you can't bankrupt your way out of them.
