It’s pretty interesting to think that Vietnam War era fighters could break Mach 2 speed but combat data shows that the average was 1.1 to 0.7 because of both fuel intake (combat range) and maneuverability. So most modern fighters have switched to being slower in exchange for technology that reduces heat signature (stealth) and the smaller engine means a bigger payload. That stuff’s pretty neat to me, and makes me appreciate the F-15 Active even more. Sure it was a NASA experiment but it’s the closest thing to IRL Belkan Sorcery due to the 2D vectoring system, and additional canards added onto the body. I love Harriers for the same reason too, thanks to VTOL but Harriers are their own beast due to that same reason. Love them but not as much as I love the F15-Active..
Russian Jets are literally just there for contrarian tankies who think that a cruise missile can be called a jet if you slap wings onto it and call it a day. Everyone knows communist / soviet era science was dogshit at military hardware but excelled at medicine.
