Only erotic medium with such a wide variety of genres & storytelling that it includes romance, love, marriage, and most other concepts practically anathema in western pornography. I've laughed, experienced bittersweet sadness, & had general fun whilst reading different hentai. There's also the whole artistic aspect of the medium's production, and the fact you're not seeing real people in the situations.

I cannot immagine expecting to be given something as expensive and useless as diamond ring. And this girl still doesn't like it just because she no longer lives in the same world as we do. all she sees are price tags.

Girls love the status it gives them to brag about a family ring being in their hands, until they have to wear it and show it off, then it's all plans on how they'll "remodel" it, cut it up, melt it, whatever they need to basically have a new globohomo-appropriate ring with the family history.
