Whot are the worst Mary Sue acts you can think of?

I'm making a list.

· · Web · 8 · 2 · 3
@LukeAlmighty Acting like a horrid, unreasonable cunt, only for the story to somehow vindicate her and the victims of her bitchfit to end up apologizing/honoring her.

Admiral Zoe Quin from The Last Jedi springs to mind.
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty
Hermione from one of the HP books come to mind where she acts like a distant horrid cunt all book until the end where she pulls some time travel device out of her ass and they use it to save everyone using stupid time paradox bullshit and then they never use it ever again.
Giving a time travel device to a 14 year old is retarded
@Duine @LukeAlmighty Bitch was literally handed a time machine just so she could take up more school subjects, lmao!

@Duine @ChristiJunior
And can create Polyjuice in 1st class.

Thanks, added. (although, I think she won't be high on the list.)

@LukeAlmighty @Duine Oh, is this about specific Mary Sue characters, rather than Mary Sue clichés?

Thinking about it, it seems I've done a pretty good job avoiding Mary Sue-infested fiction, because Rey is the main one who springs to mind, and everyone is already mentioning her.

Oh, but here's one: Supposedly non-superpowered 90 pound girl being able to effortlessly beat up muscle men twice her size (not just scrubs, but like trained guards, soldiers and fighters). Black Widow from the MCU is the obvious example.

@ChristiJunior @Duine
I meant some particular acts.
And while Black widow is bad... Sorry.

I am writing down Cap arm-wrestling Thanos with... How many infinity stones he had there? 5???

@LukeAlmighty @ChristiJunior @Duine oh Captain Marvel?! The worse. Another person given super powers (which shouldn't be as powerful as they are) with little to no struggle. Single handedly fights back against a Titan and destroys his armies - ships with ease. Invalidating the struggle of our male heroes (which was the point, man I hate subversive Hollywood...).
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty @Duine Jessica Alba in Dark Angel because James Cameron has a boner for hot chick fighters. But Hollywood has as many of those clichés as there are women in action films. I've seen martial artist girls. Like many manly things women do, it's pretty much a hardcore cosplay.
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty this, absolutely. Lib writers & film/game makers don't realize that making a woman an unreasonable bitch isn't how you convey strength or resolve of character. They just make the character childish, annoying, and the women characters do not appear authoritative, but instead as nags. :hinata_acid:
@RehnSturm256 @LukeAlmighty There's was no legitimate reason for Admiral Zoe Quinn to not reassure Poe about her actually having a sensible plan. None whatsoever, except "Believe Women".
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty

Captain Marvell. The "Valkarie" from Thor Ragnarok.

They are both characters with zero depth and/or character arc

@RehnSturm256
@Saratoga @LukeAlmighty yeah, all modern Disney female characters are like this. In the live action Mulan I was suckered into sitting through, the protag is literally given super powers (chi) which makes her OP in her own story AND invalidates all of her struggles & determination.

In the original animated movie Mulan struggled and fought her way to be seen as an equal while hiding her sex, and it forged her character, but I'm the live action movie she is handed her superiority on a silver platter. What a "wonderful" "empowering" message for young girls 😒

The writers are so retarded they don't realize they make their women WEAKER through this freely given super power.

@s8n @Saratoga @RehnSturm256
Exactly.
Why does everyone keep on writing womem being stupid and anoying? That's not special.

@LukeAlmighty

Pretty much anything force-related with Rae in Star Wars.

Also, I know Palpatine isn't a Mary Sue, but everything with him in the third sequel qualifies to me. It was all unexplained bullshit.

@LukeAlmighty Not acting at all.

I've read a few bad isekai lately (a genre rife with Mary Sues and Gary Stues) and I've noticed an essential difference in the two when it comes to the gender of the main characters. Stories with male protagonists usually emphasize how powerful the MC becomes and favors he gets are to increase his own power or give him powerful items. Even when he gets a powerful ally, they don't usually fight for him, they just help out in the background, never outshining him. Bad female protagonists, on the other hand, tend to have hot guys show up and solve their problems for them. I think this is among the worst aspects of these stories because it retards even the illusion of character growth that these stories can have, and I realize that the story is absolutely not for me, it's just a wankfest for female nerds (maybe fags).
@LukeAlmighty Whining about how hard they have it with 0 self awareness, especially when none of their complaints actually apply to them. It isn't a Mary Sue trait, of course, but a flawless Mary Sue who never experiences any hardships while everyone else around her suffers whining about how hard her life is, is one of the worst things a Mary Sue can do.
@LukeAlmighty Like it's one of those things that isn't Mary Sue specific and is annoying when anyone does it but it's worst when a Mary Sue does it.
@LukeAlmighty Neo from The Matrix would be one, but at least it's pretty honest about what it is
@LukeAlmighty the whole character lol everything she does is Mary suish. She is literally the alter ego of the author who is now an SJW
@LukeAlmighty she's a "notlikeothergirls" kind of tomboy, le Hot Boy of the novel (her crush) tells her she's akschually more hot then what is supposed to be her rival (le Hot Girl), at the end of first book she saves everyone because reasons (she is surrounded trained warriors but for no particular reason she ends up being stronger thanks to her * vibes *)
@LukeAlmighty Also Wakanda, it's an entire Mary Sue country.
"What if this little place in Africa had some double secret material that the Euros never found and became the most technologically advanced and civilized country on the planet"
@mrsaturday @LukeAlmighty The truly hilarious part is that Wakanda is very much the Marvel counterpart to DC's Gorilla City.

Equally realistic as well.
@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty @mrsaturday Their system is retarded you have mud huts next to futuristic skyscrapers, while leaders are chosen by trial by combat lmao. It always takes 1 moron to try to "own da crackaz" to ruin their entire illusion.
