Sometimes, my brother is so ahead of my IQ, I don't understand his actions even when he explains them directly.

Lol it’s a common thing smart people do because they know they’re perceived as being smart and try to maintain that image by sprinkling a few grandiloquisms or unapproachable jargon in ordinary conversation. It’s a thing regardless of your politics.

That’s not quite the same thing. One is reminding you that they are smart, they other is trying to convince you that they are. Which it is depends on whether they can, in plain language, correctly explain the meaning of the words they just used. The ones faking it can’t.
