Is it me, or are the uglier girls also meaner?

@LukeAlmighty you're ugly that means you don't get the halo effect and people are more mean to you so you're more likely to have a negative opinion of other people. if you're attractive everyone is nice to you all the time so it's more likely you'll think positively of people

@e
Even as a guy, I can confirm, that improving my looks and social skills "somewhat" did definitely transform the world I live in by a lot.

@LukeAlmighty I used to be bullied when I was kid because I was fat lol
Life is easier when you're conventionally attractive, and this is especially the case if you're a woman. You get the good jobs more easily, and people are generally nicer and more considerate of you. More doors are opened for you, both literally and figuratively. So attractive people tend to be happier, because they have it easier.

Conversely, if you're unattractive (especially if you're a woman) life is just harder. You tend to be invisible to men, nobody opens doors for you (again, both literally and figuratively), and you notice the pretty girls getting that treatment, and it makes some women bitter.

Part of that is of course just men being nicer because they want to fuck, but also both sexes tend to perceive people more positively merely by virtue of being attractive.

Take a look at this chart. This is from a dating site, OKCupid, that used to be very open with their data.

Notice how tight that grouping is. How nice people thought their personality was generally tracked very closely with their looks. Then ended up just going to a simple star rating system because having two metrics didn't really tell them anything. If people think you're attractive, on first impression they tend to also assume that you have a nice personality.
