Lol, designing a nuke isn't the hard part (though that is hard). Sourcing materials and building it is the hard part.
I've never had any interest in building a nuke, lol. I just know the basic physics, and I've heard stories about motivated grad students doing actual designs that in theory would work. But it takes a lot more than a single motivated grad student to actually build one.

That is what I love about free society. There is always that one guy who manage to to a country worth of work on his own.
