With enough stimulus, yes. I read about a study that showed that the main threat processing center of the brain; the amygdala, is larger in conservative/right people than left wing ones. So presumably it follows that lefties would need a larger or more regular stimulus to achieve correction of thinking but it is possible. Maybe as society becomes more dangerous we will see a right-shift. I am also reminded of the fact that once people have children they tend to become much more right-wing, especially women. And I postulate that this is the result of greater amygdala activity caused by having a child to protect as well as oneself. I would also not be surprised if there's a connection between oxytocin (Not oxycontin don't confuse the two), a bounding neurotransmitter that is released in great amounts during sex and childbirth, and amygdala activity. But I'm not a neurologist so I couldn't tell you about the last part for certain.
