I saw this video, ind it is truly a peak jurnalism.
Thesis: Container boxes can be turned into CHEAP houses.

The findings:
Containers can be turned into houses
They are cheap
They do offer a lot of luxuries of cheap house
People ARE actually using them already

But they're not stackable and they aren't as big as a normal house, so it's not logical to ever use it.
:blobvomiting:

@LukeAlmighty how are they not stackable or hard to build? Just cut holes in them then stack them on top of each other. Boom, you just got at least two extra floors and even more if you can be bothered with erecting some supports. If anything, the real problem with these would be figuring out how to insulate them without trippling the cost

@nukie
They are not stackable...
Well, some people did it, and we saw proof in the video, but is just is not possible.

This is the difference between "academic analysis" and "common sense"

Because by stackable, they mean 20 or more... you know... for your small cheap house.

@nukie
That seems to be the paradox of modern housing.

You can say, that young people cannot afford even smallest apartments in commie houses, but the moment, you mention building more of commie houses (maybe even using modern technologies), the boomers start screeching, that noone deserves to live in such shithole.

@LukeAlmighty okay I just watched the video. Holy fuck, there people are really, unironically, complaining about how having a shipping container house isn't comfy enough for you if you're some california hipster with money to spend, what a load of shit.
Also
>you can't stack your containers in quirky and funny ways easily, therefore it's bad
argument was such a fucking reach. The only good argument I could see was that you're still gonna have to pay a fuckton of money for getting utilities, permits and foundations set up and moving your house around is gonna be a pain in the ass no matter what so you might as well just save up some more cash and eiither build a real house or buy a camper van, but that's about it.

Really, if anything this video was made for retarded hipsters who look at these structurally deranged, ugly pods and think to themselves "Wow, that looks so quirky and unique and sustainable I need to live like that" and spend 100K on making a monstrosity that caves in under it's own weight within a year. On an unrelated note, you could totally fit a big engine, old howitzer and a pair of treads onto one of these containers and ride it around, why hasn't anyone done THAT instead of this hippie shit?

@nukie
I think I got some brain damage from the part, where they said: It might seem cheap at first, but houses are cheaper once you compare it per ft².

Really? That's what cheap means you brainlet. The fact that on a large scale, there are better options is pointless, when you can't afford it.

@LukeAlmighty I didn't even catch onto that, was that after they mentioned ukranian refugees? I shut off the video after that
