I just read a stupid blog article about "why new laptops dont include an ethernet port" and "why they should be removed".

Righ. Because, you know... WiFi is very stable, is not prone to bandwidth variations depending on the noise and the signal strength and because its very very secure. Like, nobody has ever gotten into your network through WiFi nor attacked any devices connected through WiFi.

Why should we include ethernet ports? Lets remove them so that IT workers also have problems troubleshooting or testing networks.

Fuck tech journalists, fuck the tech industry, and fuck the general public who buys all this stuff.
@enigmatico one of my laptops has Ethernet and I can’t remember ever using it, really. Maybe once or twice over 8 years I’ve had it.

You might just as well wonder why modern laptops don’t have rs-232 or vga ports.

Actually, the thing that shocks me is, that laptops don't come with a sim card slot and a mobile data receiver.

Considering, just how easy it should be to include these parts, I seriously don't get it.

@LukeAlmighty @enigmatico there’s a catch here. Having an LTE module would add more certification and most vendors just don’t want to bother.

Then again, if you have a spare pcie inside, it’s possible to install it. Internal 5G modules cost like $200 or something. Wiring an antenna might be a bit of a challenge tho.
