Sorry, but I don't see it as an S tier, unless it was pushing shows/movies for much longer then just 3 entries.
(I just realized Hobit, but still... I would call it strongest of As, but definitely not weakest of Ss.)

The book series had tremendous staying power after they came out and there were two animated movies in the 70's and 80's, plus all the Tolkien derivatives in modern fantasy.
Since the early 2000's, most fans of the books generally agree that Jackson's rendition of the main trilogy is more or less faithful to the general plot and feel of the books, even if they differ with Jackson's writing decisions.
The first time trouble showed up was when Christopher Tolkien was clearly on his death bed and Simon Tolkien, a British-Californian cuck and a Jew by marriage to a Jewess and being a lawyer, gained more power over the estate. There was the bs in Shadow of Morder games and a lot of back room in-fighting between Jackson, Guillermo del Toro, New Line, and Warner Bros over the Hobbit movies, which were supposed to be just two movies instead of a trilogy.

I didn't say, that you have to exlude them outright, but I just think, that for something to be an S-tear, it should be a "I grow up watching it, and it's still airing" kind of franchise.
One of the first movies I remember watching was the first Star Trek movie. And that franchise is technically still going. So, at the point of Nemesis/Enterprise, it was a perfect example of an S tier.
I grew up watching Star Wars prequels, and that was already 22 years into the franchise, that is still going today.
So, I am sorry, but LOTR, that had one 3 year long run, followed by a second 3 year run 9 years later cannot be called an S-tier by any means.
