Sorry, but I don't see it as an S tier, unless it was pushing shows/movies for much longer then just 3 entries.
(I just realized Hobit, but still... I would call it strongest of As, but definitely not weakest of Ss.)

I didn't say, that you have to exlude them outright, but I just think, that for something to be an S-tear, it should be a "I grow up watching it, and it's still airing" kind of franchise.
One of the first movies I remember watching was the first Star Trek movie. And that franchise is technically still going. So, at the point of Nemesis/Enterprise, it was a perfect example of an S tier.
I grew up watching Star Wars prequels, and that was already 22 years into the franchise, that is still going today.
So, I am sorry, but LOTR, that had one 3 year long run, followed by a second 3 year run 9 years later cannot be called an S-tier by any means.
