I have just noticed, that it's strange, that noone talking about the movie ever mentioned, that the thing that moves the guy forward the entire movie is a woman who took the guys kids away and refuses to let him see them.
Because you know... that is so rare these days.
-only guy he kills the entire movie is a "neo nazi"
-big twist at the end is main character was the villain all along, society was actually fine, he's just inherently evil/crazy

That movie does not suck.
The big gaslight at the end does not invalidate the movie, it frames it in current societal norms.
It is like all the youtube videos where people commit crimes followed by "It's just a prank bruh. It's just a prank."
The point of the movie was to point to the things wrong in the society. It even managed to point to the root cause. (destruction of family)
It just could not do it without the "It's just a prank bro" reframe at the end. Because that would cross the line. And noone is prepared to hear the truth outside of that frame.
