Ok, Elon is insane.
Does he really believe, that he can ask a Communist to pay money for a service?

· · Web · 3 · 1 · 4
@LukeAlmighty which communist and which service?

All the "commies" I know are consoomer retards who sign up for Spotify and Netflix.

@PonyPanda
True...
But he's asking Twats for 20 dollars for.... a blue checkmark.

@PonyPanda
Can someone please help me devide $43 billion by 20 dollars?

I mean, how many people would you expect to pay a Twat license?

@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda might he not believe that there is an over supply of blue checkmarks?
@Frondeur @LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda It's time to devalue the blue check and letting retards buy one will go a long way
@Frondeur @Ottovonshitpost @LukeAlmighty it's going to have the reverse effect. People will see the blue checkmark and will mock the person for paying 20bux (Like SomethingAwful forum members)

@PonyPanda @Frondeur @Ottovonshitpost
This reminds me of WOW, where players used "spit" emote on some premium users so much, that devs had to remove it. youtube.com/watch?v=A-d_PX0vL2

@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda Guy, your first mistake is believing they are communists
@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda
They will pay it.

It's not like I can really say how to get Twitter back into early 2010 popularity again. But there are a few things notable to point out.

All the most followed users on Twitter happen to be notable people that thrived in 2010 era. Obama, lady gaga, etc. The blue check was a good symbol to have as it proved this was a person that was notable enough to deserve to be verified. This will show new people that "wow this is the actual celebrity talking and not a scammer" and will boost the clout of twitter.

Now blue check doesn't matter. It got diluted because they gave employees of companies checks when they don't need it to work on Twitter. So when people see a blue check they think "oh some real person is giving a hot take" then they block them.

By making blue checks basically "Twitter gold" accounts they change the context of the check. If a lot of people have a check this will make normies thing "hey if all these people are paying 20 bucks for this maybe I should get it" and gives value back to the check. If you pair this Twitter gold with other services like a potential vine comeback people will pay.

Blue checks whining they have to pay now don't matter at all and they will get dunked on. They don't contribute to growth on Twitter. If Obama lost his check tomorrow 0 people would give a shit because nobody really reads what Obama's talking about.

They will pay, because if they don't they will get reduced to the level of normies and those journos and celebs with the hot takes can't run the risk of being reduced to plebs like the rest of twitter. :backfromgab:

One more thing

Fedi is great because of all the options we got. Twitter users are always starved for new features but they rarely get anything new except more shadowban. There is demand and people willing to pay for features. Those same people are not gonna spend 20 bucks to read a blue checks tweet. So the math works out.

@zemichi @PonyPanda
More importantly, the blue checkmark will mark you as "rich enough to spend on your reputation".

And that almost sounds like a good deal even to me to be honest.

@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda
I made a post, can't find it now, that when musk wanted blue check payment months ago I said it would be a huge filter.

Journos of course rely on Twitter. I would say SNS is a priority and their employers should pay for those services since it is a part of their job.

But imagine: 100 journalists x 20 bucks x 12 months.
24000 bucks to pay so these nerds can tweet hot takes on Twitter.

Employers are not gonna pay that. So the nerds get filtered and the high profile commentators will get the check. This will restore the importance of the check. This is why this payment system needs to happen for Twitter.
@LukeAlmighty @zemichi I don't think you quite grasp the WASP mindset. The mindset that leads to hipsterdom and things like normcore. You need to know what "counter-signalling" is. And I realize that the definition of the term "counter-signalling" has kind of lost it's meaning because retard pseudo-intellectuals on the right have come to use the term in place of "disparaging."

This is counter-signalling.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countersignaling

Counter-signalling is why you have broke hood niggers covered head-to-toe in brand name clothing but you still know they're poor. Counter-signalling is why when you see a very modestly dressed white person, you know that they're in all likelihood richer than their better dressed peers. Counter-signalling is why you know the professor who lets you call them by their first name is more competent than the pajeet who insists you call them "doctor."

Not getting a blue checkmark will be a form of counter-signalling. ESPECIALLY because to get a blue checkmark means paying into a right-wing, fascist, transphobic institution. The mindset among these people will be "I am important and you should just know without me paying 20bux" The really noteworthy people won't get checkmarks because they're quite secure in their reputation. The people on the social ladder below them will be inclined to for a while but then they'll see that it makes them look stupid.
@PonyPanda @LukeAlmighty
>Not getting a blue checkmark will be a form of counter-signalling. ESPECIALLY because to get a blue checkmark means paying into a right-wing, fascist, transphobic institution

You'd think that, but the thing about blue check is that they get certain privileges and certain timeline filters and exposure.

Elon knows what these are before he bought because he's the highest profile person on Twitter ATM.

So by saying "you now have to pay" he's threatening the soys by throwing them to the wolves. They will be exposed to every NIGGER and FAGGOT word from everyone. So for a small loan of 20 dollars (or 8 who know) they can avoid this.

These guys don't have any alternatives. They're not using fedi, Facebook is lame, they can't make YouTube vids, and they don't know how to code because they never learned.

Again I had predicted what Elon was attempting to do with buying Twitter and the things I thought up of he immediately did day one. He's making a play here and he's forcing these people to suck him off and kneel. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about Elon and his intentions. :backfromgab:

@zemichi @LukeAlmighty isn't the whole point of Elon buying Twittet that it becomes more transparent and all the algorithm boosters and all that shit gets nixed?

We're talking about blue checkmarks for the purpose of verification and as a status symbol. All the stuff about improved reach/engagement is another argument and I don't think there's anything to it. Maybe there are people that want to pay for less timeline curation but without the blue certification of retardation.
@PonyPanda @LukeAlmighty
>isn't the whole point of Elon buying Twittet that it becomes more transparent and all the algorithm boosters and all that shit gets nixed?

That's the positive take. I have a negative one.

When Elon and a bunch of top accounts got hacked and posted crypto scams it was claimed that twitters own mod panel was used to get into the accounts. Which is why this image of it exists.

44 billion dollars to essentially have access to every world leaders verified accounts and post through them is a bargain. This is why Elon is trolling these blue check idiots because he has some control over the world. Checks have no value.

Which is why I say a war would be profitable for Twitter. No journo is gonna give up their check over 20 bucks when others can steal the spotlight. Taken far enough Twitter could start charging for super exposure and you could have accounts paying 100 to 1000 dollars just to bump their accounts up. It can get real nasty real quick. :backfromgab:

@zemichi @LukeAlmighty Your theory requires too much in the way of mental gymnastics. Buying a blue checkmark doesn't mean you're not going to get throttled. The transaction is simply to have the blue checkmark next to your name and is no guarantee of immunity from shadowbanning. Zenmichi proven to be a retard once again! :backfromgab:

@PonyPanda @zemichi
While interesting, that would change the group buying the checkmarks from celebrities to pseude-celebrities.

Hmmm..... That actually sounds better for Elon.

@LukeAlmighty communists are motivated by glory and not money (or justice)
@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda

Some will surely pay.
I mean, redditors are paying money to assign "badges" to posts. I'm sure there is some user overlap between them and twitter posters.
Now whether or not that will make twitter profitable, twitter was never profitable. Twitter is a propaganda, surveillance and blackmail tool.

It's all about whether Musk's decision to turn checkmarks into paypigs will increase eNgaGeMent, especially for those that have completely given up on the platform due to the power tripping regime jannies that managed to turn worlds best brainwashing tool into a boring turd.(all of us on this side of the fediverse combined wouldn't be so effective at doing this)
@LukeAlmighty @PonyPanda woah woah woah
you're missing all the benefits that come with it, such as "half the ads". Isn't $20 actually too cheap, to be able to opt out of *half* the ads?

I've long felt that the only problem with bad internet content was that there was exactly twice as much of it as I liked. Flash, marquee text, 'under construction signs', adverts, auto-playing videos, pop-ups, all of it would be fine if only I could get half of it.
