This take is correct. Make them incentivize productive conduct. They must make an offer for your effort that merits it. Real payment is payment after all taxes and other deductions from the state. If the real payment doesn’t merit doing the work, don’t. You decide if it merits doing the work.
That being said, you should also acquire enforcement mechanisms. See pic related. The value of a man is equal to what he can create plus what he can destroy. You want to maximize both. So even if you withhold your use of productive skills, it’s still a good idea to acquire them.
