genuine question for christians on fedi: do atheist go to hell regardless of what they have done in their life? i heard multiple answers for this when i was a kid going to catechism

One of the things that made me go full "ew, you actually believe that" was when a Christian told me, that animals have no soul.

Chimps have been observed to wage a war, and outright torture others.
While, your response is better then literally any response I heard in my life (and I used to grow up around christians), I still have to disagree.
I mean, ants wage war. Cats torture and play with their quarry. But neither of these animals exhibit real free will, and neither are even terribly bright.

Different kind of soul
Animals do have spirits, but they are not comparable to ours. We are the sons and daughters of God, and animals are not. Animals aren’t really capable of good or evil because they do not possess true free will.
