I find it almost funny, how most weapons get immediatelly to a phase, where any semi-competent engineer can build them by himself.

Yes, they will be a low grade versions, but still.

@LukeAlmighty to be fair, that's how it's been for a long time now. I do agree though, the speed at which people can reverse-engineer military tech nowadays is frightening.

Yeah.
Like, I know, the knowledge was always there, but now, thanks to free access to both electronics and 3D printing, the amount of craftable weapons did increase exponentially. (I think)

Almost makes me wonder, just how accessable explosives are to a common chemist.
(considering, that it's the last part of any weapon.)

@LukeAlmighty that's the thing though, you can pick up an old chemistry textbook or ask online. You can just befriend someone online and ask them. It doesn't matter how much you know anymore, anyone can get the info they're looking for if they're persistent enough

@LukeAlmighty true, but what I had in mind was the fact that more people actually get to see those weapons and read up on the mechanics behind them. You know, because of the Internet and the expansion of information infrastructure in general. The asinine showboating most militaries and manufacturers do nowadays helps too

@nukie @LukeAlmighty Military tech in the last few years was a money laundering scheme to make as much money off of the federal government as possible with hacked together crap made to comply to some standard as opposed to being good.

Even by the 90s anything the government and especially the DoD/military touched would instantly get a bad reputation.
