@Yakotarun@MoeBritannica@neo yeah, but the earlier you trigger them by pollution, the faster they evolve and grow. Many people have this problem, they trigger biters too early, and then their defenses can't keep up with the improved biters (they get stronger with pollution, and also when you kill them)
@Suzu@neo@MoeBritannica@Yakotarun Start in a forrest. Just do NOT start in a desert. This one stupid variable completely transforms the game, and most newbies don't even know it.
@LukeAlmighty@neo@MoeBritannica@Yakotarun oh yeah, you need wood, it's nice to have a source of it nearby, and the trees reduce the pollution spread. However, having to many trees also delays you (I'm talking about the speedrunning achievement) because you need to keep clearing space for building stuff. The ideal start is to have a bunch of trees nearby, and a wide open area to build, like the limit of a forest area and a desert area.
Now, you know what REALLY speeds up your game start? Big rocks with coal inside them. Those are a huge gamechanger.
@neo@LukeAlmighty@MoeBritannica@Yakotarun maybe, depending on who you're playing with. Sometimes you get one of those psychos who knows everything about the game, and the dude just builds everything up blazingly fast without explaining WTF he's doing, and you end up confused and not really contributing anything
