Watching the last samurai with my mom.
I mention that it's weird that a woman falls in love with the guy who killed her husband, and that it "traumatized" me when I was watching it for the first time.
She doesn't get it, why I'm weirded out by it.

Nah, it is a non-shitty version of Avatar.
What I remember triggering me hard about The Last Samurai is how in the final battle, the western advisor to the "bad guys'" army commander gives completely reasonable advice that any commander should have done without being given the advice (scouting ahead), but even when the advice is given the commander refuses to do so, and for no reason whatsoever. The only reason why Tom Cruise's side doesn't get absolutely annihilated in that battle is because of this.
It's fucking stupid.
