I still think that "gamers are dead" is such a black swan event, it could not have been designed to escalate the tensions more, if it was made in a lab.

I will say it this way:
If "gamers are dead" didn't happen, I am quite afraid, it would be possible, that castrating kids in the present would get only 10 percent of the pushback it's getting now, since noone would even know about it.
