> Give away your Russian weapons, we'll give you US made weapons so you can (only) get spare parts from us.

Never hurts to ask 🤷‍♂️

@cjd
It would make sense, if it had some information value, but old Russian equipment has to be documented down to the last bolt by now.

It's not that, it's about getting them to own all US equipment because then they're on the spare parts leash. If they do something the US doesn't like, the US can cut them off from spare parts and within about 6 months, their military is entirely non-operational.
Is American military gear complicated? YES
Is it failure prone? YES
Is it impossible as fuck to make your own repair parts? YES

It's practically DRM
BTW Pressurized Water Reactors (nuclear power plants) are the same shit. Could be done easy, but much more profitable to make it impenetrably complicated.

GE, Westinghouse, Framaton all do the same shit.
If you were to set aside $50bn for R&D, you'd be able to make a molten salt powerplant and you'd be able to sell thousands of them, but the problem is no one wants to put up the money because as soon as you do it, the next guy is going to copy you and he's going to spend his $50bn on bribing politicians to get his design licensed and yours won't be.

Bitcoin mining MIGHT change this situation.
