@TerryFor those of you that don’t understand what the problem with this is, it’s grabbing a cherrypicked range of data to create a fake trendline. To see the actual trend, you have to look at all the data.
This is what you’re seeing. It’s just cherrypicking.
Think of what a trendline is. It’s just a function that best fits the data you give it. If you give it a range of a few years where there appear to be no temperature changes, it’s going to generate a trendline with a slope of (close to) zero. Presto, no global warming.
Except, there are short-term effects that slightly reduce or increase temps in a given year, such as the El Nino/La Nina cycle, the 11-year solar cycle, etc. That, combined with the fact that there are several different datasets you can pull from to generate these charts, and you will always be able to find a range that implies that things aren’t getting warmer.
