Installed a tetris based game hoping I could AT LEAST show something to her, that I could talk about...
She fucking refused to continue after she dropped 4 bricks saying it's boring.
Bitch, gaming isn't TicToc. Every game is boring in a 6s interval. I am starting to thing, that all the boomers saying that zoomers cannot focus are complaining, because they stopped counting after 3 seconds.
@nukie
I want her to have a single topic she could talk about, not to sell her soul to the ASCII.
@nukie
Man, you don't know how BORING she is.
Yeah, you can say to talk to her about books, but I said this yesterday, she cannot quote a single book/movie/show that she likes. Not a single fucking sentence.
Also, she does play games.......solitare and mahjong. (not the Yakuza version. The match 2 version)
@NEETzsche @nukie
Thanks, I know, but that doesn't exactly help, since I will be jailed in here for 3 more days anyway.
@NEETzsche @nukie
"""jailed"""
I promised to live with her for a while since she returned from hospital after a stroke.
She is 100 percent recovered (I know how fucking rare that is, and I am happy for it), but I still promised I will stay for a few more days to make sure she can live ok on her own.
You’re a good son, then. But I don’t think you’re going to extricate your mother from being boring because that’s just how old women are.
I read somewhere that women handle boredom and drudgery better than men. They are safety and security motivated. They want you to give them a safe environment where they can do their little daily routines and rigmaroles until they just croak. The call to adventure is almost exclusively a male trait, with the exception of the occasional tomboy.
@NEETzsche @nukie
Yes.
And I get that. I don't even want an adventure, but I cannot even do my ""daily timekilling rutines"", since I live in here now, so I am away from the gym, AI, I cannot even watch streamers, since she will just turn on TV, or start calling some of her friends.
@NEETzsche @nukie
That's not how headphones work
But I had this argument before with many people. You cannot cut one input, just by adding a noise to it from another.
@NEETzsche @nukie
Yes, I have laptop, but it still is a 1.5 room apartment.
@NEETzsche @nukie
Yeah, it definitelly isn't.
The only thing I would call malicious is when she turns on TV while I am asleep.
I think there’s a certain wisdom in the boomer view of media and technology. You see it less now but when I was a kid it was normal for people to do things like “channel surf.” They weren’t terribly invested in anything that came on TV because within a few hours they had some kind of IRL obligation like work, school, church duties, some meeting with friends or hobbies, and so on. So the 30min of time they spent watching television was them, quite explicitly, them asking: “Okay, TV Jews, show me something cool.” And if the channel doesn’t get to the fucking point in like 10s, they just moved right on.
Now it’s much more different. Now it’s normal for people to be like, “No no NO! You need to give this shit your undivided attention for five straight hours before you can even meaningfully decide if you like it or not.”
