Atheists obsession with hating the concept of "thoughts and prayers", a gesture usually done by random people who have virtually no power or ability to help people during a crisis, is deeply revealing as to their disgusting internal mental state, one where the every man is inherently evil for doing what he can all because a political went on TV and said it as well. Especially now when the attack they are using as a cudgel was a self admitted anti-Christian terror attack. It goes without saying but these people would be hanging from trees in a sane society.

Yes, the idea of "thoughts and prayers" is disgusting.

And I am sorry that you don't get it.

You find expressions of "I wish there was something I could do to help" disgusting? Such things help hold society together.

How narrow minded of you.

Sorry for the late response, I missed your message in the torrent of low effort responses.

Obviously, the "I wish there was something I could do to help" is not disgusting. That is the most human thing you can feel in such a situation.

The point of my message is maybe even more connected to the line "I will pray for you", that I have been told several times directly.

If you know I don't believe in god, and I am suffering, why would you think, that telling me, that you will "think about someone (not you) helping me instead of you" will make me feel better in any way?

The problem with "thoughts and prayers" is exactly the facct, that it pushes your own christianity on the person in the exact moment, when he's the most desperate and broken.
