Repentance is harder for those that get enabled by society, so they don't change and don't reform.
Repentance for murder on the other hand is pretty obviously encouraged.

But what repentance are you even talking about?
One has forever limited job prospects, missing on culture/technoligical literacy, lost all friends/family
The other has to smile a bit more while dating. (if she decides to date again)
to reform your life you have to start acting differently.
the actual effort to get a job, make stable reliable friends and the like might be lower for her, but the motivation goes in the other direction, so she will have a harder time actually doing it.
