"A fake death is one of the worst things a writer can create. The reason is simple. It makes the reader lose fear for your characters, knowing that at any time, you can bring them back to life. This often goes hand in hand with a lack of interest in the rest of your work..."

Makes me wonder how to do a fake death right so that readers don't lose interest or fear.
@sim foreshadow it, and give it an implied chance, but not a guarantee. see also, Starship Troopers movie, where it's subverted through ironic means, and subverted almost instantly. Rico dies, so we're told, and 5 seconds later we find out he is recovering in some cloning-bay like "ayo we're invincibleee hahaaaaa!". It fits with the topic of the movie being half-propaganda/criticism of propaganda. ("True, hero soldiers cant die!")

I watched it yesterday, and it dies have a fake death. But, it his both amazingly well explained in advance, and more importantly, it is completely situational.

Seriously, that kind of situation does not happen very often, so you know not to expect it again.
