@LukeAlmighty The total of mentally ill? Doesn't seem like it tbh
@LukeAlmighty I would take that with a grain of salt, the last year this graph accounts for is 2001
@LukeAlmighty I'm just greatful I went to a 99% White HS in the early 2000s and I didn't have to worry about getting chased down by Jamarious after asking him to turn his bluetooth speaker down
@LukeAlmighty I can't even imagine what public school is like today, we'd just started school choice in like 2003. The only handful of blacks in my school before I graduated would cause nothing but trouble.

@PraxisOfEvil @LukeAlmighty Exactly, although it was the late 1970s for me.

There’s going to be major confounding factors, the ones I can think of are:

The slow end of Jim Crow and segregation.
The soft on crime policies that simply kept a lot of criminals out in the streets. And its reversal, to a degree. As you implicitly note, this doesn’t include BLM long after 2001.
No FDA approved treatment for bi-polar disorder until 1970 (the mid-1950s were when we could treat schizophrenia as my mother the nurse witnessed first hand).
Nationwide sweep of shall issue or better concealed carry laws starting in 1987, that’s going to result in more criminals getting caught red handed.
The changes in capital punishment policies.

Those are the big ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Okay on the one hand there are some people who benefit from new medication who wouldn't have been functional before. On the other hand, giving out meds to everyone on purpose the way pharma does is very gay.
@Saber @LukeAlmighty I've had mental health issues for a while, my medication really did help me as did the doctors and therapist I saw. But I met plenty of people who were either beyond help or so zooted from meds they were essentially zombies. I didn't realize how fucked the medicalization of this country was until I myself was struggling.
@Saber @LukeAlmighty I know for a FACT my mental struggles came from me being a stoner and seeing lawmakers push for weed legalization as if it's something that just makes youtube vids funny pisses me off.
Heavy weed use when I was younger didn’t help me, looking back

It’s why I’m so against it now. Don’t want kids to go through similar stuff.
@RahowasaurusRex1979 @PraxisOfEvil @LukeAlmighty @Saber In a sane society, weed could be used in leu of certain pharmaceutical drugs. Unfortunately we live in piss earth and people don't have the sense, or ability to find balance in their use of any substance. From caffeine to carbohydrates to cannibus, the average person doesn't have the will to moderate their consumption.
@Dadbolgainz @RahowasaurusRex1979 @PraxisOfEvil @LukeAlmighty @Saber This. Literally anything can be abused, and anything pleasurable can be addictive. In Weimerica anything can and will be used to numb spiritual pain.
@NitroDubs @RahowasaurusRex1979 @PraxisOfEvil @LukeAlmighty @Saber That's the distilled evil of our world. Like a concentrated form of despair and hopelessness. Inescapable and unyielding.
@RahowasaurusRex1979 @LukeAlmighty @Saber In my high school days it was hard to come by, you'd have to go to some weird randos house in some shit neighborhood and the stuff he gave you had very low potency. Now you can walk into dispensaries with just an ID and load up on flower that's 25% THC.
@gol_d_berg @RahowasaurusRex1979 @LukeAlmighty @Saber That's what the average is, vapes are a different story, I've seen them as high as 99%
