The argument made no headway, because as always, tradcucks flinched.
But before that happened, a wave of online skeptic was created. And they were able to gain a huge ground by saying "there are 2 genders", because it did force the left to actually defend their positions for once.

In fact, I believe, that the moment they said: "ok, but I am talking about sex, not about gender" was the first failed line of defense.
