If things were going really good economically speaking around the world, and I mean really good, I wouldn't say that a $1600 MSRP is such a bad idea. Still very expensive, but if people can afford it, why not.
But that's not how things are going lately.
You can't expect to push that into the market when people can barely afford a 1660. Maybe a 3060 at best, which isn't too far fetched. And not update your entry and mid range lines (instead keep pushing not-so-overpriced but still over the line cards with just a couple less features and mflops.

If you want about the same performance as an Alpha Sapphire RX580 for around the same price, but you can't find one, it's a good choice. You can play most games, even if it's at mid settings for the latest games and still get some great performance. At 1080p. Great entry level.
