This whole situation is really funny whenever a shitlib says something like "the government has F-35's, what's your AR-15 gonna do?" now that we know that the government not only loses them over uncontested airspace, but can't find them when this happens.

Well, I am not an expert, but as far as I understand, the point of a stealth jet is, that it's fast. So, I seriously don't see the PR disaster from one being shot down while in hover mode.

My bet goes to "diversity crashed the plane".
Or, based on history, there were a ton of instances, where pilots of advanced airplanes took them, and landed in enemy territory in exchange for citizenship and a huge pile of cash... And that is something they wouldn't want to admit.
