Ya know, I'm reminded of the story of Moses when he was off talking to God only to come back to everyone worshipping a golden calf. Even as a kid I thought that was super retarded because even if they didn't believe in God it doesn't take a scientist to tell you there's not really anything special about a hunk of gold.
However seeing how the majority of athletes have taken to worshipping idols and have formed a non-theistic religion (though they will never admit it) it does seem rather plausible. Hell, a golden calf isn't all that retarded compared to the woke religion these days.
