Yeah I found the timing of the election very weird, I couldn't remember whether it was a fixed date or not but apparently no. At least I have fireworks night to distract me for awhile until the voting count, decided to have steak too and posh it up.

I seem to be being extremely autistic today because I don't get that at all
Kids beg for change on Bonfire Night by asking for "A penny for the Guy", the Guy being a Fawkes effigy.
They do? I've lived in the UK all my life and that's news to me LOL fireworks/bonfire night is just that. Except we haven't been able to really do bonfires because each year it's rained for me so far but we've had a rare moment this year where the weather has been perfectly clear.
