/ourguy/ George Simion might not win the Romanian presidential election after all: the polls showed the race tightening during the last 2 weeks, and the voter turnout today is unusually high, suggesting the the media fearmongering about Simion has been effective, and that the Normies are mobilizing to prevent Romania from being "taken over by Russia". Romania is socially conservative, but overall pro-NATO, pro-EU and anti-Russia, so the voters are very much susceptible to that kind of rhetoric. Also, reformist Bucharest mayor Nicușor Dan is way more palatable to anti-Establishment voters than PSD lackey Crin Antonescu.

It's not all bad tho - the long-term prospects for the Nationalists are still good, and it might not be the worst thing in the world to let the USR party take the fall for the rough economic times that are projected for the next few years.
@Jens_Rasmussen I mean, Simion was initially considered to be the underdog in round 2 of the presidential election, but then he dominated round 1 so thoroughly that his lead seemed almost insurmountable. However, the fact that the people voting for Victor Ponta (a Fake Nationalist literally using the Make Romania Great Again slogan) don't seem to be breaking for him did throw a wrench in a lot of the projections.

Tomania.... great....again?
Last time Romania was great, there were a ton of spikes involved.

I think Simion's problem was that his archetype requires being sharp, and witty, and funny, and make the other guy look dumb...

So when he went to the debate and got mocked and ridiculed by a former math teacher whose name sounds like the Romanian word for booger - I mean, how do you come back from that?

Then he no-showed the other debates, he did this to himself.

Also being part gypsy didn't help him with his core demographic.
