I want to install a media server to view my shows, my photos etc, preferabely on a web server.

I looked up media servers, and found 3. Jellyfin, Plex, or Emby. But literally all 3 of them seem to be some kind of holywood jew worship temples with slight mp4 player compatibility.

What the fuck? Do you guys know of some other service I should try? Because that shit is literally disgusting.

WTF is wrong with Jellyfin? It's the best and has hardware accelleration

Welll, why is it scanning the filenames just to download metadata to show a poaster and 10 fun facts about the main actor Nicollas cage?

you can disable all that shit, think of it as the AudioCD database sync for better managemente like we had in the early 2000's

I want a media server, but can it look like total crap please?

Tell us you don't have a wife without telling us.

I don't know about jellyfin, I believe in plex you can set your own Metadata source, so presumably you could point it at a blank source, or block the internet metadata sites at thw dns level if you wanted everything to look broken with just text and a file-extracted thumbnail as the coverart 🤷‍♀️

Plex keeps getting more cucked ecah year with their bullshit. Jellyfin is the only option

No argument from me there. I want to switch to jellyfin but it's low on my ever-growing project list. I bought a lifetime pass years and years ago when plax was good, so it's not like I'm funding the ongoing enshitification at this point, and it still 'just works' for my users so switching it up now carries a significant hassle factor for me.

So, I've finally got it working, and yeah... Jellyfin seems to be the best choice yet.

But, you have to set every single library as a home video and disable everything under "display the photos". Then, it's what I wanted.

if you want to force hardware acceleration properly, set nginx rule to its enforced and used GPU/cpu
