Street fighter: 2026
So, I have finally had the chance to watch Street fighter dotay, and it is one of the hardest movies to talk about this year. Capcom yet again had hardened my love-hate relationship with a product, where I orgasm over some parts, while ripping my hair out over others. They just don't know any other way.
This is the most 90s movie ever made since the 90s. I am not even joking. The nostalgia blast of the pure cringe atmosphere of 90 was the freshest air in the modern stale era. The characters (with 2 exceptions) were pure eye candy, and I loved the lighthearted atmosphere throughout the entire movie. Characters were memorable and fighting scenes were both entertaining and holding true to the signature movesets of each character. And even though, some characters are way stronger then others in an obvious and unscalable way, literally all battles felt powerscaled properly.
But, here is the catch. And with Capcom, the catch is ALWAYS everywhere.
First off: If you are a fan of Ryu, you will suffer. Literally every scene he's in is a stale cliche. I mean, that you have heard literally every line he ever said in the entire movie in at least 10 other B movies. And I mean literally every single line. He's not a stereotype, he's a THE ONE AND ONLY STEREOTYPE.
M Bison is a Nazi. Therefore, to make him literally anything else then agay weakling would be a crime in this age. Therefore, they made sure you couldn't take him seriously.
The 90s humor had a true marvel humor scenes in them that took you out of the 90s atmosphere and the story was so plane, you could have just connected the fight scenes with "and then he opened next door, and in next room was oponent Y". It would not change your enjoyment.
So, yeah... I had a blast, and my friend seemed to be entertained too. But, for every scene where I felt immersed, there was a scene where I suffered. I would still recomend it, but only, because the nostalgia blast is hell of a drug.
I would forgot.
ANIME YEAAAAA
The movie is showing a ton of flashbacks from the past, and all of them are shown in an animated form. These segments look amazing, and for a moment, you feel like you're watching a way supperior production only to be taken back to the live action.
And I would get the intro, or 1 more flashback. But there were about 8 of them, each with a serious kickback feeling, whenever it ends. And most of them are completely pointless too. Literally Capcom. They make a few anime scenes only to show you what they could have done, but won't give it to you anyways.
