Honestly, you wouldn't think that the Brits invented railways. Their railway system is such a mess. I'm trying to figure out how to buy ticket online. nationalrail.co.uk gives me a 504 error and I can't even figure out the time table..
@beni tbh the only place with better trains than home is probably asia in general...
@fence This might be true, even though SBB is trying hard to catch up with the low quality of services in our neighboring countries. At least in my region since they closed down the line from Arth-Goldau to Zug.
@beni well yeah sbb is getting worse and worse by the year... sadly... I blame privatization tbh... but overall its rather good I'd say...

@fence @beni I don't think that sbb is privatize, it's still owned by the confederation. Train is my only method of transport, so I tell you I have a lot of experience in using trains. And even though i sometimes have to wait 1h because of an issue, it doesn't happen very often, and you also have to see that it's a very dense railroad system for the country. So they're not perfect but they're trying ;)

@tursiops @beni oh I get around mainly by train too. I am mostly mad about daily 5 minute delays that make me miss my bus, which is scheduled twice an hour, or the fact that there aren't any night trains. also some trains are sorta getting old I think... the same parts break regularly (doors for instance). And then there are routes where the trains are just way to full, where I wish they could have alternative connections or more frequent trains.

but in the end I have to say its rather decent, I can be seemingly everywhere in country within 4-ish hours.

tbh I am not too sure about who exactly owns sbb... all I know is that its an "Aktiengesellschaft" and that other service public companies are rather privatized nowdays (see Die Post and Swisscom)... I am just looking for something to blame
@fence @tursiops @beni Filthy train peasants vs Glorious Car Master Race. :smug10:â
