@Bernard I know I'm stating the obvious, but if people had left lynching as an option, as it was in the beginning, niggers would have to pretend very hard, to be on their best behavior and adjust their collective behavior. Those must have been some very good days. To think, that instead of fighting a costly civil war we could have implemented a fifty year plan to deport them to Liberia. Missed opportunities are the most costly.

The Civil War was a cataclysm for our people, but there was a movement to send blacks back to Liberia after the war ended. Congress appropriated money to do so and over 1,000 had been sent when Lincoln was assassinated. I don't really know how this project was derailed.
