During the Cold War, Russia and the United States were constantly trying to outdo each other.
Soviet Russia sent the first dog in space and then proceeded to sent the first man in orbit.
The Americans panicked, seeing how far they were being left behind, and after a lot of planning they finally sent the first men on the moon.
The Russians, wanting to show the silly americans once and for all that space belonged to them, also went to the moon and painted it all in Soviet red.
Americans, not giving a shit about the Russian statement of Soviet dominance, went back to the Moon. But this time they also brought paint with them. And painted a white "Coca-Cola" on the moon.
