Good news: I managed to install Arch in a VM via Archlabs installer.
Bad news: it's so bare boned that I'll have to bend over backwards to even just be able to install stuff from AUR. And I'm not sure it's gonna be worth it.

Manjaro really is the best OS for me right now. I've yet to find any real disadvantage in it.
