This one is kinda strange for me, since my favorite town is Rampart, but I've never used Tumblr.

WordPress is THE blogging platform. If you want to blog, WordPress is the default choice.
As for Tumblr, yeah, Verizon had them and sold to WordPress. Had to search it cause I forgot what happened.

- people bastardize every aspect of it, there are uncountable plugins, you can essentially turn it into whatever you want, forum? bbpress. shop? woocommerce. nextcloud substitute? been there, done that.

I find it so hilarious that these days the meme is "php bad" when 10-15 years ago it was the thing to learn if you wanted to make a decent website. How fast things change.
