Here's something useful you can do with excess ram:
in Linux, /dev/shm seems to be a sort of ramdisk. I'm sure the devs intended something else for it, but you can use it to store temporary stuff, like browser cache, so you get a speedup and also fewer write cycles on SSD. I personally also use it to store packages downloaded by pacman when installing something.
