It's because we're jealous really. We'll occasionally invent non-sense, like we don't like how they get involved in things that are non of their business, or maybe that they're stupid rednecks, but in reality Europeans are just fucking jealous. Merkel wishes she had as much influence and power in the world as any generic POTUS has.
