I love how they're slowly confirming some of my suspicions regarding the recent rise of people coming out as trans. In this case: they're not depressed because of their dysphoria, instead they've convinced themselves that they're transgender to avoid dealing with the real source of the depression.

Weirdest form of escapism... but since people are more and more desperate to be seen as "special" in some way, this is probably their only chance at "accomplishing" it, since they lack any talent and don't work hard enough.
