Fun fact: "cum" is an actual word in Romanian. It's pronounced "coom", and it just means "how".

Ok, so it wasn't that fun... so sue me.

@alyx it being pronounced coom is actually pretty fun

@chuculate
We are partly descended from Romans that conquered our territory in antiquity. So it's expected.

@alyx I listened to a Romanian radio once and I understood more than any piece of written text that I had tried to read ever before. It seemed like I was being internationally pranked.

@histoire
Cause Romanian is awesome. We also have "nani", and it's pronounced pretty much like in japanese.

@alyx it’s the same in Latin, but it means “with” e.g. magna cum laude “with great praise”

@wiggles
In Romanian the latin "cum" transformed into "cu". "laude" actually maintained as is. But "magna" didn't really carry over. We have "mare" that means "great", but it came from latin "maris".
